Better World Pledge Day

Tuesday 20th February was a special day at RollaDome as it featured a visitor to the club as part of Better World Pledge Day. Latanya Hodge-Richardson, assistant manager of superstore conglomerate Pets at Home, visited the charity in order to capture some moments with the team through photographs.

She has chosen RollaDome especially as her charity of choice as it symbolised the importance of being outdoors.

Speaking at an exclusive interview, she mentioned “Having a pet brings about a sense of responsibility and companionship and the same is true for taking part in an activity or a sport.”

She spoke about the importance of recreational activities and the therapeutic benefits that they provide for people. “There is an emphasis on freedom and outdoor recreation”.

“Different activities can bring about different benefits for certain kinds of people, and its dependent on the customer. For example, a rabbit can be useful for someone who lives at home and spends a lot of time in the garden, whereas a hamster requires lower maintenance and would be suitable for a primary school child, and the same is true for rollerskating”.

CEO of RollaDome Anne-Marie Waugh expanded by drawing a parallel with the recreational focus of RollaDome. “Younger members and beginners can benefit from their time learning on quads, whereas more experienced members can see rapid lifestyle improvements from time spent participating in speed skating or skating hockey.”

According to Pets at Home Group, there are three pillars behind the Better World Pledge. Planet, people and pets. The company is strongly aligned to using less energy and resources, generating less waste and packaging and offering a more sustainable way to care for pets. The company celebrates earth day and has a priority on renewable energy and pet food pouch recycling in store.
